Fenix Lights with Built-in Laser
Laser on a Fenix light means one of two very different things. Flat EDC lights add a small red or green laser pointer next to the main LED, handy for presentations, teaching, or showing a partner exactly which ridge, trail marker or roof flashing you mean. Long-range lights use a white laser as the light source itself, producing a narrow beam that reaches more than a kilometre. Know which you want before you compare models. One compact rail-mount light, the GL22, also carries a red laser; its product page covers mounting and use.
Pointer lasers in pocket lights
The E06R Pro carries a red laser alongside its 1,600-lumen white beam and a 365nm UV light, each on separate controls. The E06R Pro RG and E08R UE use a 520nm green laser, which is easier to see over distance and outdoors; Fenix lists the E06R Pro RG as Class 3R, a class where a direct hit to the eye can cause injury. Use it as a pointer on a slide, a whiteboard, a building face or a map on the hood of the truck. Never aim any laser at eyes, aircraft or vehicles. More on this slim format in our flat EDC flashlight guide.
White-laser lights for distance
A white laser light, often called LEP, does not project a dot. It uses a laser to excite phosphor and produces an intense, tightly focused white beam. The LR36R pairs a white laser with a broad floodlight for 10,000 lumens and a 1,260 m beam, a tool for search and rescue or large rural properties. The TK30 does it in a compact handheld: only 500 lumens, yet a 1,200 m reach. Fenix classes the TK30 as a Class 1 laser product, but the beam is still intense up close, so treat it like any very bright light. The trade-off is a narrow spot with little spill. Frequently asked questions
- Is a laser pointer on a flashlight safe?
- Used sensibly, yes. Point it at objects, never at people, animals, aircraft or vehicles, never look into the beam, and do not let children play with it. A green 520nm laser looks much brighter to the eye than red, so give it extra care. Store the light so its laser switch cannot be pressed in a pocket.
- What is the difference between a white laser light and a laser pointer?
- A pointer makes a small colored dot for showing a spot. A white laser light such as the TK30 or LR36R uses a laser to excite phosphor and produces a usable white beam for seeing things far away. The TK30 reaches 1,200 m at only 500 lumens because the beam is so concentrated.
- Is a green or a red laser better for pointing?
- Green is easier to see, especially outdoors and against busy backgrounds, which is why the E06R Pro RG uses a 520nm green laser. Red works well indoors on screens and whiteboards and is the choice on the E06R Pro. Either way, check the product page for the laser details and the switch used to fire it.
