Fenix 18350 Flashlights

An 18350 has the same diameter as an 18650 but is much shorter. That stubby cell is what makes the PD26R ACE small enough to vanish in a jeans pocket while still putting out 1,300 lumens. This is a short list of compact flashlights and headlamps for people who carry every day and want rechargeable output without the length of an 18650. If runtime matters more than size, the 18650 page is the next step up.

Small cell, honest trade-off

The short cell is the whole point and also the limit. Fenix 18350 cells hold 1100mAh or 1600mAh, against 4000mAh for a large 18650, so turbo runtime is short and the light leans on its middle modes. That suits everyday carry: a quick look under the truck seat, the walk from the parking lot, a dropped key in the snow. The TK05R puts the small cell behind a tight 450 metre beam if you want reach in a short body. For hands-free use, the HM53R and HM55R headlamps are light enough to forget on a trail run.

Spares and charging

The 18350 is far less common than 18650 or AA, so do not count on finding one at a hardware store on the way to the cottage. The PD26R ACE and HM53R ship with a 1600mAh cell and the TK05R with an 1100mAh cell; check our batteries page for which spare is in stock before you rely on a swap. Every light here recharges by USB-C. The HM53R also accepts 16340 and CR123A cells, a handy fallback if your rechargeable runs flat in the backcountry.

Frequently asked questions

Is an 18350 light bright enough for real use?
Yes, for close and mid-range work. The PD26R ACE reaches 1,300 lumens and a 354 metre beam, plenty for yard checks, trailheads and around the vehicle. What you give up is runtime at the top: a short cell empties faster on turbo, so you will spend most of your time on medium and save turbo for brief looks.
Can I put a 16340 or CR123A in an 18350 light?
Only where Fenix says so. The HM53R lists 16340 and CR123A as compatible. For the other lights, use the 18350 cell named on the product page. A shorter cell may not make reliable contact, and a CR123A is a single-use 3V primary, so never put one on a charger.
Why is the 18350 list so short?
Fenix uses the 18350 in a handful of compact models where the length saving matters most. If you like the size class but want more choice, the 16340 page has even smaller lights, and the 18650 page has the widest selection and the easiest spare cells to stock.
