Fenix Lights with a Battery Pack
A battery pack is a purpose-built power unit: several cells in one housing, or a flat pack shaped to fit a headlamp. That is how the LR60R reaches 21,000 lumens and how the HP35R headlamp carries a 10000mAh quick-release battery case. The trade is that each pack fits only its own light. This short list mixes search lights, headlamps, a lantern and the WF30RE work light; if you prefer standard cells you can swap anywhere, see 21700 lights.
Why a pack instead of cells
Packs let a light do things a single cell cannot. The LR60R runs a 14.4V pack built from four 4000mAh cells, which drives twelve LEDs at once. The HP35R battery case doubles as a power bank and has its own red light. Smaller flat packs keep headlamps and lanterns compact and light on the head or the table. Most charge in the light or case by USB-C, so there is no separate charger to carry. For a wider look at fuel options, see our battery and charger guide.
Plan your spare
A pack is the one battery you cannot pick up at a hardware store, and separate spare packs for several lights on this page are not currently stocked. If the light is for search and rescue, a job site or a remote cottage, plan on recharging rather than swapping: keep a power bank or vehicle charger handy, and ask us about a spare before you count on one. Some lights here hedge that risk: the HP16R headlamp also runs on four AA, and the HL45R takes three AAA. Check our batteries page for what is in stock.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I use regular 18650 or 21700 cells instead of the pack?
- No. These lights are designed around their own pack, connector, voltage and protection. Fitting loose cells or a third-party pack is unsafe and can damage the light. The exceptions are the backups Fenix lists on the product page: four AA in the HP16R and three AAA in the HL45R.
- Do battery packs handle the cold better than single cells?
- Not by chemistry. They are still lithium-ion or lithium-polymer and lose capacity in the cold; a bigger pack simply has more to spare. Keep a headlamp pack under a layer where the design allows, charge indoors, and do not leave a search light in an unheated truck overnight and expect full runtime at dawn.
- Is a battery-pack light worth it over a 21700 light?
- If you need the output, yes: the LR60R sits in a class that single-cell lights do not reach. For general use, a 21700 light is simpler to feed and its spares are easier to stock. Many owners carry both: a pack-powered light for the big job and a 21700 light for everything else.
