Fenix Lights with 1000 m+ Throw
Only a handful of lights reach a full kilometre, so this is a short list, and each gets there differently. The TK30 and LR36R use a white laser light source for a very narrow beam, the HT18R V2.0 relies on a single large LED, and the LR60R is a 21000-lumen handheld searchlight. If you want long reach with a broader, easier beam, the 500–999 m page is the closest neighbour.
Laser beam or LED searchlight
The TK30 makes only 500 lumens yet is rated to 1,200 m, because its white laser source packs light into an extremely narrow spot. That makes it excellent for picking out one object far away and poor for lighting a path. The LR36R pairs that idea with a 10000-lumen floodlight, so one body covers both jobs. The LR60R takes the opposite route, with a Search mode for long range and a Camp mode for broad light around you. Any beam this intense deserves care: never aim it at eyes, aircraft or drivers.
Read the number carefully
ANSI distance is measured to 0.25 lux, roughly full-moon level, so at 1,100 m you see a faint patch of light, not detail. Practical identification happens far closer, and haze, rain or falling snow cut real range sharply. These are tools for search teams, marine use, large ranches and wide-open country such as the prairies or a big northern lake. To compare them with the rest of the long-range line, read our longest-throw Fenix guide or browse search lights.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I use these lights on the water?
- The TK30, HT18R V2.0, LR36R and LR60R are all rated IP68, so rain and spray are covered. The limits on the water are optical: mist and spray light up in front of a narrow beam, and a tight spot leaves the boat around you dark. Use a floodlight or lower mode close in, and never shine a long-range beam at other boats, drivers on shore or aircraft.
- Which 1,000 m light is the most practical to carry?
- The HT18R V2.0 and TK30 each run on a single 21700 battery, which keeps them handheld-sized. The HT18R V2.0 gives more usable spill from 3,700 lumens and adds SOS and beacon modes for emergencies, while the TK30 is the more specialised spotter. The LR60R is a 1,500-gram searchlight better suited to team or vehicle use, while the LR36R, at 493 grams with a holster, sits between the two.
- Do I need 1,000 m of throw for the cottage or the trail?
- Almost certainly not. On a trail or around the cottage, a long-range beam lights a small circle far ahead and leaves the ground around you dark. The lights here make sense when the job is finding something far off across open ground or water. For everyday outdoor use, a light rated 250–499 m is the better fit.
